Designing vertical territory for multiple cats

Territory is measured in levels and exits, not square feet.

Cats resolve most tension by changing height. Every platform should have two ways off it, so no cat is ever cornered.

Give each cat at least one resting spot that isn't on a shared route — a window perch works well as a private end point.

Stagger heights by 12 to 16 inches so an older or heavier cat can step rather than jump.

Ready to build the route?

Start with one perch and add pieces as your cat's confidence grows.
