How suction-cup cat furniture actually works

Why a clean seal matters more than cup size, and how often to re-seat cups.

A suction cup holds because air is pushed out of the cavity and atmospheric pressure holds the cup against the glass. Anything trapped under the rim — dust, grease, condensation residue — creates a leak path.

Clean the glass and the cup with a mild alcohol wipe before mounting. Press firmly, then lock the lever if your cup has one.

Re-seat cups monthly and replace them every 12 months, or sooner if a cup no longer holds firm. Never leave a window-mounted piece unchecked for long periods.
